Chaya's Comfy Cook Blog

Good Food that is Gluten-Free

About

This should be a place to share the food I love and the joys in my life. It is also an outlet for me to improve my gluten free recipes which is always a loving challenge.

I am a teacher and a mom and Bubbie (grandmother).  My loves are my family and my teaching.  This is followed by what I enjoy, reading, exercise (at times) and baking and cooking.

While, I have basically cooked the same foods, I recently acquired a thirst to experiment with proven recipes and to create some of my own.  I found, I love it.   Since, there are only two of us living at home, my freezer is filling up, rather quickly.

We have two requirements for our food.  We are kosher and all of my cooking and my ingredients follow the laws of kashrus.   The other criteria is that every item must be “gluten free”.  This means, I cook GF almost all of the time but since hubby does not like chocolate.  I bake chocolate goodies that do have gluten and I share them with guests and my class.  I must add that I love chocolate.

I hope, I can incorporate our needs into yummy recipes.  I am glad you are coming along for the ride.  Eat and enjoy!

  1. I like your blog recipes, Chaya! I ran across it before when I was looking for gluten-free cookie recipes; I don’t usually cook gluten-free, but it does the body good – I wish I did it all the time. You seem to have good luck with gluten-free baking mix, so I hope your recipes will inspire me to cook similarly as I read more of them!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)

  2. Hi Chaya, Im sorry your husband doesn’t eat oat or bran. I’ve seen gluten-free recipes made with organic brown rice, flaked rice cereal or gluten-free oats and dessicated coconut. i’ll also update my post with this alternatives. Thanks

So nice to “meet” you. Can I call you bubbe, too? I need some Jewish inspiration around holiday times that I can’t find closer to home. Off to check out your blog – and thanks for visiting mine!

  7. Fellow gluten free blogger,

I’m staring a carnival blog as a one-stop shopping place for gluten free information. A blog carnival is like a magazine of articles that gets published on a schedule. Every 3 months (I hope it catches on so that we can do this more often – at least monthly), bloggers submit an article related to the GF lifestyle from their blog. The submission will be combined with all others onto 1 carnival page, which will include links to each participant’s article on their own blog (so you retain the rights to the post, and your trademarks stay intact). We can all take turns being the host blogger (if you are interested in hosting, let me know!). We hope that we can all learn from each other and introduce our readers to other gluten free sites out there.
If you’d like to see a sample carnival, check out http://allergickid.blogspot.com/2009/06/living-with-food-allergies-blog.html.

Joining the community of contributors is a great way to get more readers to your blog. It’s easy to do. Just follow the below link and fill in the quick form linking one of your best blog posts to the carnival page. Topic areas will include recipes, tips, research, advice/support, etc. Your post will be posted along with contributions from other GF bloggers.

The deadline for the next carnival is July 25, 2009. Be sure to let your readers know about the first carnival. It’ll be posted on August 1st at http://thefoodallergycoach.blogspot.com/.

Looking forward to reading your post,
    Kim
