Quinoa with Fruit and Nuts – FFwD
I was looking forward to this week. I made quinoa, last week, and I was excited to create with it again. Actually, this time, Dorie has done the creating with this quinoa, chock full of dried fruits, nuts and seeds. I went into my cabinets and took a little bit of this and a little bit of that, sunflower seeds, pine nuts, chopped walnuts, dried blueberries, cherries, apricots and something exotic looking.
This recipe is a snap. The dressing is a very few ingredients and there is flexibility as to how we put it together. I am looking forward to checking out, other members of FFwD. I think, you would enjoy doing this, also.
Just imagine all these wonderful flavors mixed together plus the lemon juice which is in the dressing. What about the textures? This is a worthwhile salad to make.

I’m a big quinoa fan – it’s such a healthy ingredient, and so easy to cook. I love the fruits you’ve added. What a creative idea for quinoa.
I love sweet quinoa salads
Yum!
That looks really yummy… thanks for posting!
Chaya – This looks wonderful, I bet that nutty flavor is superb!
Gosh…is this a breakfast cereal? A luncheon salad? A barbecue side?
This really sounds incredibly versatile!
Yours looks lovely Chaya!
I am a big fan of quinoa, and this looks wonderful, Chaya!
There are so many different variations on the FFwD blogs this week. This recipe is so flexible and everyone has put their own twist on it by selecting their own favorite fruits and nuts!
This “recipe” definitely lent itself to interpretation. It is interesting to see everyone’s take on it.
I have to ask – what was the “something exotic looking”?
Although I did not really care for the quinoa, it was very easy to make,
and possible to vary with different ingredients, Tricia used a white
quinoa as opposed to my red, and I did think it tasted better. It’s
great to experiment. Your dish looks wonderful.
I could eat quinoa every day. Love its texture and flavor, however this fruit and nut combo didn’t make it for me. I’m glad you enjoyed it and the dried blueberries sound heavenly!
I’ve been seeing quinoa a lot lately in restaurants as part of salad dishes, I need to try and make some sometime. Yours looks delicious, I’ll have to try the recipe
Agreed that this recipe was a snap. Yay ! Nana was not sold on it but since she does not care for raisins or yogurt …it was a bit of an uphill battle. Quinoa was new to both of us and it was very interesting to read how healthy this little seed is. I really enjoyed the Greek yogurt on top and will revisit this recipe as well as look for new ones to use up that big bag from Costco
Your salad looks great! I felt the same way you did…pulling things out of my cabinets and coming up with a lovely salad! Would love to try it again using fresh fruit!
I did enjoy the flexibility of this dish, which is why I didn’t feel too bad when I replaced all the dried fruit with Mandarin oranges. Great post!
