Aggressive Fast Fries

I debated making this recipe.  It came along with an excellent recipe for a High-Speed Hamburger.  The hamburger was the tastiest, I have had. TastyTuesday200pix Welcome to my new home Tasty Tuesday

I had no questions about making the hamburger but the potatoes seemed comical as to how they were made.  They were fun to make because I got to take out my aggressions on those poor potatoes.  Bash, bang, bam…..who was I angry with?  I continued to hammer away forgetting the potatoes were on my counter.   What fun!  Must be the evil twin at work.

These were fun to make because, you really, beat up the potatoes.  I did not peel mine and used fingerlings.  They would be prettier if peeled but we like the peel so I kept them on.

The list of ingredients is quite short.  You could only beat it for brevity if you gave someone an apple.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup canola oil

about a dozen fingerlings

  1. Place potatoes in plastic freezer bag that you can seal completely.
  2. With a rolling-pin, smash those potatoes.  These are truly smashed potatoes.
  3. When the potatoes are broken into pieces, heat oil in fry pan.  I use my cast iron.
  4. Place potatoes in hot oil, being very careful.  It gets very hot.
  5. Cook for 5 minutes on each side with pan partially covered.
  6. Remove to a plate covered with paper towels.
  7. Eat and enjoy.

I have one cookbook by Nigella Lawson and almost every recipe that I have made is from there although, I found many of them online.  Reading her recipes is a joy.  She uses the greatest descriptive words.  Maybe they are common to Brits or maybe, they are her words.  All I know, she is completely understandable.  Three cheers for Nigella.
